About
Who am I?
Born in Latvia in the revolutionary year of 1989—on a sunlit, blooming spring morning in May—I arrived with the sunrise. My name means bright light, and it’s no surprise that light has guided me ever since. I am, in many ways, a seeker of light—within nature, within moments, and within people.
Throughout my life, I’ve resisted labels, yet still collected a few along the way: dreamer, hitchhiker, lover of the sea, veggie soul, and—above all—photographer.
Photography didn’t find me by accident. Before I ever imagined turning it into a profession, it was my art therapy—my way to feel, process, and speak without words. I used to joke that I got lazy to paint, so I picked up a camera instead. And maybe that’s half true. But what has always been true is that through my lens, I reflect not just the world I see—but the emotions I feel.
I studied photography at Falmouth University in the UK, and over time, my work evolved into capturing the poetic stillness of nature—quiet fields in Latvia, sunrises in Sweden, and fleeting light in between. Whether on a solo bikepacking trip or a slow walk through the forest, I’m drawn to subtle moments and soft atmospheres.
Others have described my photography as melancholic, romantic, intimate, aesthetic, and full of presence. To me, it’s simply a way of being present and reminding others to notice the beauty in small, overlooked details.
And you—yes, you—are a piece of art to me, too.
